GREENOCK approach the final quarter of this season’s league programme embroiled in a relegation battle with Hillhead, Helensburgh and Mearns.
There are five fixtures remaining and the local side need to win two or three of those to retain a place in the Western Premiership Two Division.
This Saturday at Glenpark, Stirling County are the opposition. Earlier in the season Greenock secured an important win against County through at New Williamfield.
That was at the end of May, and since then only one other win has been recorded, which was against Mearns at Glenpark at the end of June.
County are currently sitting comfortably in mid-table with six wins and six losses.
Greenock have still to play league leaders Kilmarnock, but also have massively important matches against each of their three main relegation rivals.
The team to play Stirling County at Glenpark on Saturday with a noon start will likely be: TA Matthews (Capt), Ma Ahmadzai, Mu Ahmadzai, CS Calder, F Dinarkhiel, GJ McDougall, A. McGuirk (Wk), A Neupane, CS Pandher, SS Prabhu, K Thapa.
Greenock’s 2ndXI Glenpark travel to Larbert on Saturday to play Stenhousemuir’s 2nd XI The Tryst.
