PLANS have been drawn up to demolish a former Greenock West End care home and build flats and townhouses.

Balrossie Developments has applied to knock down the Glenfield building at the corner of Bedford Street and Union Street.

There would be a three-story block containing 16 flats, fronting Bedford Street, and a terrace with three townhouses on the Union Street side. There would be 22 car parking spaces.

The proposals are pending consideration by Inverclyde Council planning department.

Greenock Medical Aid Society closed its Glenfield home last year and the property was bought by businessmen Sandy and James Easdale’s property investment firm Dalglen.
