REVISED designs have been revealed for the major residential development proposed for the former Mariners’ Home in Greenock.

Plans for the A-listed building in the West End have been drawn up for developer Bridgend Property Limited by Nicholson McShane Architects (NMA).

The property, which has lain vacant since March 2021, would be converted into around 24 apartments, preserving key architectural features.

New residential buildings are also proposed, flanking the historic structure and behind it. These would consist of around 70 units, a mixture of flats and town houses.

Its expected that a planning application seeking permission in principle for the development will be submitted to Inverclyde Council before the end of the year.
