MORTON have signed young midfielder Joey O’Toole following a successful trial period.
It’s the 18-year-old’s first professional deal.
Previously of Jersey Bulls, o’Toole came through the Jersey FA Performance Centre and was handed a trial by Morton managwe Ian Murray in January.
Following a second trial period this pre-season, O’Toole impressed the coaching staff and has been rewarded with a one-year deal.
Murray said: “Joey first came in to train with us back in January, and he did really well. We invited him back for pre-season, and he’s continued to impress us with his attitude and the progress he’s made.
“He’s still a young player with plenty of development ahead of him. The plan is to continue working with him and, hopefully, get him out on loan to play regular first-team football. That experience will be really important for his development, and we’ll keep a close eye on him over the coming months.”
