REVISED plans for a coaching pitch in Greenock’s East End have been drawn up.
Craig Molloy Coaching already has planning permission to change the use of ground in the former Strone estate into a training pitch with canopy roof, with a dog exercise field beside it.
It is now proposing an indoor artificial-turf football training area for the site on the south side of the railway line on Kilmun Road.
The facility would be suitable for one-to-one and small group coaching.
The change needs further consent from Inverclyde Council planners.
The new application states: “Planning consent was previously granted for a covered football training facility with a separate office building.
“The current proposal seeks to amend and develop this concept through the provision of a fully enclosed football training facility, with the office accommodation incorporated within
the principal building.
“The proposed football training facility would provide a new sporting resource for Inverclyde while bringing a long-term derelict and underutilised site back into productive use.”
On adjacent land there would also be a 20×80-metre, fenced and floodlit dog exercise field, open from 7.30am to 9.30pm, with half-hour slots booked via a website.
