REHAB charity The Haven wants permission to operate a coffee trailer next to the B788 road, between Greenock and Kilmacolm.
It has applied for planning permission for the proposal, including creating an area of hardstanding to accommodate access, vehicle parking and a seating area.
The trailer would be beside the access road to The Haven at Horsecraigs, Kilmacolm, aimed at passing traffic.
Proposed trading hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 2pm, with no evening or weekend opening. The trailer would be removed at the end of each trading day.
A statement submitted to Inverclyde planners states: “The Haven is a Scottish charity providing residential rehabilitation and support for people affected by addiction. The coffeе trailer forms part of its Life Skills and Social Enterprise Programme, providing supervised work experience to support residents’ return to independent living and employment.
“The project provides residents with practical experience in customer service, food hygiene, cash handling, teamwork and time management. It supports confidence, responsibility and employability, alongside opportunities for paid supervisory and operational roles.
“The Haven has already engaged with the relevant licensing processes and continues to work positively with statutory agencies, including Roads and Environmental Health, to ensure that all necessary standards are met.
“The proposed location benefits from excellent visibility and direct access from the public road while avoiding unnecessary vehicle movements within the main residential site.”
The application is pending assessment by officials.
