A SECOND attempt to develop homes at a site in Greenock’s East End is moving forward.
Link Group have applied for planning permission for 15 two-storey houses at Strone Farm, Glenbrae Road.
They will be a mixture of detached and semi-detached properties for social rent.
The proposal is now pending consideration by Inverclyde planning officials.
In 2019, Oak Tree Housing Association started a development of 15 homes at the site but encountered significant challenges and eventually announced in December 2024 that it would not be going ahead and that partially completed houses would be demolished.
Problems included the liquidation of its contractor in 2022 and rising material and construction costs, made worse by the aftermath of the covid pandemic. Oak Tree estimated that to complete the project would cost it a total of £6million — more than £400,000 per house.
