East Kilbride 3rds 186 for 8
Inverclyde 99 all out
INVERCLYDE put in a good performance on Saturday at Gourock Park but eventually lost out to a strong East Kilbride side.
The local side went into the match with three of the previous weekend’s winning batting line-up unavailable.
David Tolan took the first East Kilbride wicket, holding a tough return catch to dismiss Praveen in the ninth over. Peterson hit an aggressive 36 before holing out to Mohammad Anwer at mid-wicket off Asad Nasairi’s bowling. Ibarhim Haidari then bowled Klein, and in the same over Zander Lovell’s direct hit from backward square leg ran out Gaurun, to leave East Kilbride at 83 for 4 at the midpoint 20 overs.

Paul Singh bowled Wikram at 89 for 5 but the visitors’ steady lower order batting stretched the total over the final 15 overs. Ishan Nayak bowled Ali for 31, Hairari, Tolan and Nasairi picked up wickets, but the total increased to 186 from 40 overs, helped by a very strict interpretation of the legside wide rules, with 45 extras included. Haidari took 2 for 29, Tolan 2 for 36, with Singh, Nasairi and Nayak taking one wicket each.
Inverclyde’s reply started badly with Ishann Nayak being run out in the first over. Nial Binu and Nasairi also both fell early on, with the locals at 11 for 3 after six overs. Inverclyde needed a steady partnership to build their innings, but that did not materialise, with Haidari (9), Tolan (10) and Lovell all being caught. Anwer (17), Lappin (27) and Paul Singh (18) batted well but could not recover the situation as Inverclyde innings ended at 99 all-out in the 32nd over.
Inverclyde’s next match is a home fixture against Mearns 3rds on Saturday at Gourock Park, with a noon start.
