A GREENOCK hot food takeaway has applied for permission to open later.
Wingston Spice at 44 Murdieston Street, beside Scotmid Coop, has planning consent to trade until 9pm but now wants to operate until 11pm, seven days a week.
A supporting statement submitted to Inverclyde Council planning department explains: “The applicant seeks to extend opening hours in response to customer demand.
“The earlier closing time of 21:00 places the business at a competitive disadvantage compared to fast-food takeaways within the surrounding area with later trading hours.
“Within Inverclyde there are already multiple examples of similar takeaways within residential areas which operate until 23:00 or later. This indicates that later evening trading is an established and accepted feature of the local environment.”
The request is pending consideration by officials.
