LOCAL athlete Georgia Morrison made a return to competitive action after an enforced injury lay-off.

She competed at the weekend in the white hot atmosphere of the UK Athletic League in Eton, London.

Georgia was called up by the Glasgow Jaguar team to form part of the 4 x 400m relay squad and made the trip to the for what proved to be a highly competitive league competition.

Athletes taking part included current and past Olympic and world-standard competitors from the strongest eight clubs in the UK.

Being allocated second leg by team management, Georgia used her previous experience to good effect early on to ensure the Jaguar team was in contention, striding down the back straight looking like her old self.

With 150 metres to go, her lack of races began to show, but, undaunted, Georgia dug deep and remained in the top half of the field as she approached the change-over zone, passing the baton over in a major points-winning position.

Her efforts were not without reward as the Jaguar team secured an impressive fourth place finish in Athletics Premiership Division.
