COUNCIL officials are proposing that all of Inverclyde’s £1.5million allocation from a UK Government fund be spent in Port Glasgow.
The district has been awarded the money from the Pride in Place Impact Fund which aims to improve high streets, public assets and community spaces.
Greenock has already been awarded long-term funding through the Pride in Place programme.
A report due to be considered by councillors states: “To enable officers to develop an indicative use for this funding by February 2026, committee approval is sought to allocate the full funding award towards projects in and around Port Glasgow town centre.
“Of the other town and villages in Inverclyde, Port Glasgow has the greatest socio-economic needs, and opportunities for place-based regeneration were recently recognised by the town’s selection for the ‘Heart on Your Sleeve Award’.
“A number of eligible potential projects have already been identified through the Port Glasgow Town Centre Action Plan and the Lower Port Glasgow Masterplan, which is currently under development.”
