The old piers before construction work began on new sea wall, 1987

THIRTY years ago the transformation of Greenock’s Waterfront was getting underway….

Among the buildings that disappeared, James Lamont Dry Dock Ship Repairers offices and workshops, now part of the police compound, 1987.

Also consigned to history, the Marine Bar were the Para Handy actors and film crew hung out when filming the series was filmed at East India Harbour in the early 70s
