GO-Ahead Given For Extension At Greenock Factory

GOLDEN Casket confectionery company has been given permission to build a link extension between parts of its Greenock site.

Inverclyde Council planners have approved the proposals which involve premises at units 8 to 12 at Fort Matilda Industrial Estate, Eldon Street.

Drawings submitted by Rebecchi Architectural show the structure would connect two buildings and would have room for an articulated lorry.

The decision report issued by council officials states: “The food supplier requires the link to provide covered access between the main factory (operational area) and an adjacent building used for storage purposes. The adjacent building has been occupied by a variety of uses and most recently by leisure outlets, which no longer operate from the building.”

It continues: “It is considered that the proposal is suitably located, presents an acceptable impact to amenity and is compatible with the established business and industrial uses.”

The company has also been given permission to install a security booth and barriers at the entrance to their part of the industrial estate.
