INVERCLYDE rounded off a successful season with a comprehensive victory away to Bute County in Rothesay.
Batting first, Inverclyde lost two early wickets but a good third-wicket partnership between Zerak and Nayak took the score to 41 in the 11th over when Nayak was caught and bowled by Ware.
Zerak was bowled for 34 runs at 57 for 5 but captain Gordon Lappin played a solid innings of 39 runs, with good support from Lovell, Singh, Haidiri and Nasairi to take Inverclyde to 112 all out in 27 overs.
Bute’s early confidence was dented with Inverclyde’s opening bowlers Zerak and Singh taking wickets. Only Bute’s experienced Crichton brothers offered any resistance to Inverclyde’s impressive attack but this was ended when Anwar bowled Guy Crichton for 22 at 44 for 6. The home side’s innings ended in the 16th over when Nayak bowled Huang. Anwar took 4 wickets for 14 runs, Zerak 2 for 9, Singh 1 for 10 and Nayak 1 for 11.
This victory took Inverclyde to nine wins from 17, the side comfortably finishing in mid-table. The win was dedicated to Jim Murphy, former captain and president, who sadly passed away recently after a short illness. Jim also served as a respected league umpire and committee member.
