DISCOUNT supermarket chain Aldi has applied to make improvements at its Greenock shop including a large expansion of the sales area and changing the car park.
The proposals include increasing the sales floorspace at the Patrick Street building by more than a third, from about 1,000 square metres to nearly 1,400 square metres.
There will also be new customer toilets and improved staff accommodation. The car parking area will be reconfigured, with seven extra spaces being provided. There will also be five electric vehicle charging points.
Aldi was given permission for an extension in January 2022, but has decided to submit a new application which has some changes.

A document explaining the plans states: “Aldi are pleased to be able to submit this detailed planning application to seek approval for the layout and design of the proposed extension to rear of their existing store in Greenock.
“These proposals represent a significant investment by Aldi and are a sign of their long-term commitment to the local area and further contribute to improving the quality and experience for shoppers in this part of Inverclyde.
“Aldi have identified a need to extend their Greenock store to enable them to continue to provide their award-winning offer to
local residents.”
