A GREAT Day Out For All The Family At Kilmacolm And Port Glasgow Agricultural This Weekend

8 May, 2024 | Local, Noticeboard

THE 189th Kilmacolm and Port Glasgow Agricultural Show takes place in the spectacular setting of the Knapps Loch on Saturday (11 May) from 10am — a great day out for the whole family, human and hairy!

The Knapps Experience will be next to the main ring where young and old can learn about farming, the environment, local heritage, try milking a model cow, and meet animals, bees and local community groups.

Compete for free in hobby horse races! Ten majestic hobby horses are gearing up for a historic event: The Kilmacolm Hobby Horse National. Take the reins and race around the main ring on show day Hobby Horses will be provided or participants can bring their own. Enter at the secretary’s tent. Age categories: four and under, five to eight, nine to 11, 12 to 15, and possibly more! Races are at 12:30pm and 3:15pm.

Pick up a free Treasure Hunt sheet and pencil at the entry gate and follow the clues and drop off completed sheets at the Knapps Experience to be in with a chance of winning a family pass for a farm trailer tour with Kilmacolm Farm Tours.

There will be hundreds of entries in the wide range of Animal Classes — sheep, cows, horses (light and Clydesdale), dogs, and children’s cattle/sheep.

The Industrial Tent will showcase domestic arts, crafts and baking by adults and children. Entry forms and fees must be submitted by Friday 10 May.

Light Horse Classes, including cross country, show-jumping, showing and games, will run all day. Light horse classes should be entered online at www.kilmacolmshow.org or on show day at the horse tent.

There will be a dog show for all hairy hounds. Dogs do not need to be Kennel Club-registered and entries are taken on showday from 10.30 at the dog ring or can be made online at www.kilmacolmshow.org.

Schedules and entry forms for all classes can be downloaded from the website www.kilmacolmshow.org.

There will be entertainment in the main ring, trade stands galore, vintage tractors, a craft tent, a fairground and a food court.

Parking is free but limited. A free shuttle bus will run from the Cross, Kilmacolm all day. Entry fees and accessibility information is on the show on website. There is a carers’ discount with Carers’ Passport.

Follow the show on social media to keep up to date with news. Information, schedules and online entry for light horses and dog classes are available on the website www.KilmacolmShow.org.
