MORE information has been revealed about the proposed creation of an ‘urban village’ at the Inverkip Power Station site in documents submitted to Inverclyde planners.

Scottish Power Generation are preparing a planning application for the 650-house development and have lodged a report with the council as part of procedures to assess environmental impact.

The document states: “It is envisaged that the proposed development will be constructed in a phased manner and delivered over a 15-year period.

“It is anticipated that the construction period will begin in 2020 with the construction being completed in 2035.”

The report states that Brueacre Burn, which is currently culverted under the site, will be opened-up to create “an attractive natural feature”.

The document also reveals that the future of the long power station jetty is “currently under discussion” and will be covered under a separate planning application and marine licence application.
