A LOCAL Scout group has celebrated the achievements of two members who attained the movement’s highest award.

The 85th Greenock and District troop welcomed distinguished guests and friends for the awards ceremony, which was presided over by The King’s representative in Inverclyde, Lord Lieutenant Peter McCarthy.

They honoured Aidan Phillips, who had gained the newly established King’s Scout Award, and Catriona Arkley whi had earned the older Queen’s Scout Award.

Both had demonstrated exceptional dedication by acquiring skills, contributing to multiple community groups and completing a series of advanced challenges, including serving as leaders at Blair Atholl patrol jamborette and participating in world Jamborees.

They also earned their Explorer Belt, through a challenging hike around Mont Blanc, and completed the Mark Muir Challenge.

The 85th thank the Lord Lieutenant for making the event special for everyone, and inspiring the Cubs, Scouts and Explorers with his insights into the significance of these awards and the effort required to achieve them.
