ELITE Academy of Dance is preparing to welcome students back its studio next week for the start of another year of ballet training.
Now entering its 18th year, Elite Academy of Dance is the only dedicated Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) classical ballet school in Inverclyde, and is based at a purpose-built studio in Greenock.
The academy provides high-quality ballet training for more than 260 students, from children as young as two years old through to adults and dancers in their 80s.
There is a full timetable of 28 weekly classes, including pre-school ballet, children’s graded ballet, pointe work, adult ballet and the ever-popular Silver Swans programme for older learners.
The academy is also delighted to launch a new adult beginners’ course which will introduce the fundamentals of classical ballet in a friendly and supportive environment, with the aim of giving participants the confidence to progress into the academy’s regular adult or Silver Swans classes.
Principal Julie Gunn Kavanagh said: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome everyone back after the summer break. The start of a new session is always a special time, whether it’s a child taking their very first ballet class or a returning student beginning another year of training.
“Our goal has always been to provide the highest standard of classical ballet tuition in a positive and encouraging environment. We are looking forward to seeing familiar faces again, welcoming new students to the Elite family and helping every dancer achieve their own personal goals throughout the year.”
Elite Academy of Dance follows the internationally recognised Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, allowing students to progress through examinations while developing confidence, discipline and a lifelong love of ballet. Alongside their weekly training, students also have the opportunity to perform in the academy’s spectacular Summer Show at the Beacon Arts Centre, giving dancers of all ages and abilities the chance to experience performing on a professional theatre stage. Many students have gone on to vocational dance training and prestigious associate programmes, while others simply enjoy the physical, social and artistic benefits that ballet provides throughout their lives.
