A SUPPORTER-led appeal launched by Greenock Morton and Morton Club Together raised thousands of pounds within a few hours of going live.
The Morton Fighting Fund has been started as the club faces major financial pressures, affecting it on and off the pitch.

Within 90 minutes more than £4,500 had been donated directly to the fund. The club later said: “Over £13,000 has now been raised through the Fighting Fund, season tickets, donations to Morton Club Together and sponsorship since the fund went live.”
The fund will provide immediate support to help safeguard the club’s operations, strengthen its financial position and help ensure that it can navigate issues surrounding sponsorship.
A statement on the club website explained: “Over recent weeks, supporters have heard first-hand about the challenges facing Morton. From ongoing cashflow pressures to the strain placed on football operations, these are difficult circumstances for everyone who cares about this club.
“While results on the pitch matter and the team will fight for every point, the long-term survival and sustainability of Greenock Morton matter more. For more than 150 years, this club has been carried forward by generations of supporters, volunteers, players and staff.

“Through good times and bad, Morton has endured because people have always stepped forward when the club needed them most. Today, we are asking every Morton supporter, wherever you are, to stand together.
“We completely understand the frustration, concern and confusion that exist at the moment. We also want to be absolutely clear that everyone involved behind the scenes is a Morton supporter who is working with the club’s long-term interests at heart. While there may be differing views on the best path forward, there is a shared desire to protect and strengthen Greenock Morton for future generations.”
