GLENBRAE Children’s Centre in Greenock has received an outstanding report from the Care Inspectorate.
The centre achieved two excellent grades — the highest grade possible — and one very good rating after inspectors visited unannounced.
The report highlighted the nurturing relationships between staff and children, the strong sense of inclusion and belonging and the significant impact that partnership working with families has on children’s wellbeing and development.

Inspectors found that children were highly engaged, motivated learners who demonstrated confidence, curiosity and resilience.
They also praised the centre’s commitment to children’s rights, continuous improvement and high-quality leadership.
To celebrate, the centre put on a party and invited all the children and their families along to enjoy some live music, face painting and dancing.
Head of centre Craig Scott said: “We are incredibly proud that the Care Inspectorate recognised what we see every day at Glenbrae — children who are confident, curious, resilient and secure, surrounded by nurturing relationships and a community that genuinely cares about them.
“The report described Glenbrae as demonstrating sector-leading practice and delivering excellent outcomes for children and families.
“For us, the grades are wonderful recognition, but the real achievement is what happens every day — the relationships, the play, the creativity, the adventures and the confidence our children develop.
“That is The Glenbrae Way — getting it right for our children and families, building positive relationships, nurturing one another, reaching for the stars and beyond, and making sure there are plenty of smiles, hugs and opportunities for children to thrive.
“We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together, and we will continue to reflect, learn and improve, working together to ensure we keep getting it right for our children and families.”
Councillor Jim Clocherty, Inverclyde Council’s convener of education and communities, said: “This is an excellent report and I’d like to congratulate everyone involved.
“It’s clear the inspectors were impressed with all aspects of care and learning at the centre and that’s down to the strong leadership team, hardworking and caring staff and good relationships with parents, carers and of course the children themselves.”
