YACHT Club Raft Race Returning After Three-Year Gap

2 August, 2022 | Local, Noticeboard

ROYAL Gourock Yacht Club is looking for teams to take part in its charity raft race.

It takes place at Ashton on Saturday (13 August) for the first time in almost three years — the last two races had to be cancelled because of covid pandemic restrictions.

Rafts will take to the water at 3pm, and the fun-filled family event will also feature live music and a barbecue on the balcony. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to go along.

Anyone who has a favourite good cause they’d like to raise funds for by taking part should contact the club’s social convenor Alison Allan on 07428 124999 for details.

Alison said: “This really is a light-hearted event. Although there’s a trophy for the fastest rafts, there is also one for the raft with the best theme or costumes.

“The teams are limited to four per raft and experience isn’t really essential, although a sense of humour does help!”
