POLICE have confirmed that a person struck by a train in Greenock died at the scene.
Numerous rescue, ambulance and police crews were sent to Branchton Station on Saturday afternoon after a report of someone being hit by a train.
British Transport Police said today that a person was found on the tracks but died at the scene. There are no suspicious circumstances.
Trains on the Wemyss Bay line were cancelled or delayed for some hours.
