TWO women and a teenage girl have been arrested and charged after drugs were recovered in Inverclyde.

Officers acting under warrant searched properties in the Oronsay Avenue and Cumbrae Avenue areas of Port Glasgow.

Cannabis with a street value of around £214,000 was recovered.

The women, aged 49, 48 and 16, were due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court today.

Sergeant Gary Arthur said: “I’d like to thank the public for their assistance with our enquiries into this matter.

“Drug misuse brings nothing but misery to our communities and I want to reassure the people of Port Glasgow and the wider Inverclyde area that we will continue to use every tool and tactic at our disposal to remove these illegal substances from the community.
