A MAN threatened staff at a Greenock shop with what appeared to be a firearm and stole a two-figure sum of money.
The robbery happened at the U Save store in Belville Street around 3:15pm on Saturday.
The two male members of staff — aged 15 and 23 — were left badly shaken. The suspect is white, around 5ft 10 inches, in his late teens or early 20s, of medium build.
He was wearing a dark hooded top with the hood up and dark trousers. He had a scarf over his face.
Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are checking camera footage for any additional information on the suspect.
Detective Sergeant Stuart Young said: “This shop is popular and well used by local people. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen someone hanging around the shop or something which struck them as odd or suspicious to contact us as they may have information which could assist our enquiries.”
Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at Greenock Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 2664 of Saturday 10 August, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 through which information can be given anonymously.
