WITNESS Appeal After 6am Robbery At Shop

DETECTIVES are investigating a robbery at a newsagent shop in Port Glasgow early today (Thursday).

Two men entered Usave in Brown Street, just after 6am, and threatened the 55-year-old shopkeeper.

They stole a quantity of cash and tobacco before running off. The shopkeeper was uninjured although he was left very shaken by the ordeal.

Detective Constable Stephen Jordan said: “I’d like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Brown Street, Port Glasgow prior to the robbery taking place and may have seen the suspects hanging around the area or anyone who saw them running off afterwards.”

One of the men was around 5ft 7in, wearing a green North Face hooded top, black trousers and blue shoe coverings over training shoes. His face was covered with a black snood or similar.

The other was a similar height, wearing a black Nike hooded top, black trousers, black training shoes, blue disposable gloves. His face was also covered with a black snood or similar.

Anyone with information that can assist enquiries is asked to contact police via 101 quoting incident number 0458 of 16 March 2023.
