MORTON finally secured their first win of the season, away against Arbroath, with both teams having a player sent off.
The first goal in the 2:1 victory came from a penalty scored by Grant Gillespie in the 10th minute, with Arbroath going down to 10 men.
Morton’s Christopher Cupps was sent off in the 28th minute for violent conduct.
An own goal in the 50th minute put Morton 2:0 ahead, with Arbroath scoring just two minutes later.
The match was suspended for around 40 minutes because of a medical emergency in the crowd towards the end of the first half.
The result puts Morton into ninth place, above Queen’s Park, with four points from 10 games.
