THRIVING Girlguiding Inverclyde Needs More Volunteers

20 February, 2025 | Local

GIRLGUIDING in Inverclyde is proving so popular more volunteers are needed to help reduce waiting lists.

The organisation has groups in Larkfield, Gourock, central Greenock and Port Glasgow.

Division commissioner Angela Darroch said: “At Girlguiding Greenock, we believe in helping girls know they can do anything. We open up a world of possibilities for girls aged four to 18 years old, one where they can grow in confidence, develop new skills, and discover their unique voices.

“Following the challenges of the covid pandemic, Girlguiding Greenock temporarily saw a decline in membership and volunteer numbers. However, because of the resilience and passion of our leaders and members, the movement is thriving once more.

“Today, many of our units have waiting lists, proving just how valuable Girlguiding is for girls in Inverclyde.

“This growth is exciting, but it also highlights the urgent need for more volunteers. Without additional leaders and helpers, some girls may have to wait longer to join in the amazing experiences Girlguiding offers.”
