THREE Weeks Of A8 Port Glasgow Roadworks Will Include Carriageway Closures

RESURFACING work is to take place on the A8 in Port Glasgow for three weeks.

The work will be undertaken from Thursday 8 August until Saturday 31 August in three phases:

Phase One: Structural reconstruction of the A8 eastbound carriageway between Comet Roundabout and Newark Roundabout.

This will involve overnight closure of the A8 eastbound between Kingston Roundabout and Newark Roundabout from Thursday 8 August until Friday 16 August between 8pm and 6am each night. After 10pm each night there will be no access to and from Anderson Street from Comet Roundabout. There will also be daytime single lane closures between Thursday 8 August and Saturday 10 August. Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Saturday 17 August.

Phase Two: Structural reconstruction of the A8 westbound carriageway between Newark Roundabout and Comet Roundabout, including the Comet Roundabout circulatory.

This will involve overnight closure of the A8 westbound between Newark Roundabout and Kingston Roundabout from Saturday 17 August until Wednesday 21 August between 8pm and 6am each night. The link road between the Glasgow Road / A761 roundabout and Newark Roundabout northbound, as well as Fore Street, Comet Road and the Retail Park access from Comet Roundabout will also be closed each night. Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Thursday 22 August.

Phase Three: Structural reconstruction of the A8 westbound carriageway between Woodhall Roundabout and Newark Roundabout. This will involve a full closure of the carriageway in this location between 8pm on Sunday 25 August and 6am on Saturday 31 August.

Diversions will be in place.
