YOUNG Port Glasgow Otter Max McCorkindale swam to success in national championships.
Max initially took part in the West of Scotland Schools swimming trials where he qualified to represent the Disability Sport Glasgow Team.
The team then competed at the SDS National Junior Swimming Championships for Athletes with a Physical Disability, Vision Impairment and/or Hearing Loss.
The tough competition is held in partnership with Scottish Swimming and took place at Grangemouth Sports Complex, with 12 regions competing in 28 events, consisting of 41 races/heats.
This was Max’s first time swimming in the Junior Championships and he totally smashed it by winning a gold medal in the 25m backstroke (Class 10) and taking five seconds off his personal best time.
This competition uses a time-banded system and medals are awarded per class relevant to the competing number of swimmers.
