SWIMMING: Port Otters Compete In Major Contest

FOUR members of Port Glasgow Otters swim team took part in the 50th SDS Swimming Championships for swimmers with a physical, hearing or vision impairment.

It was a tough competition, but the swimmers returned from Grangemouth with a few personal best (PB) times and medals between them. (In this competition medals are awarded depending on how many swimmers are in the race).

50m Backstroke (Class 3) – 2nd
25m Butterfly (Class 3) – 3rd
50m Breaststroke (Class 3) – 3rd
100m Freestyle (Open) – 3rd

25m Backstroke (Class 8) – Gold
25m Breaststroke (Class 8) – 2nd
25m Freestyle (Class 5) – Silver

Kyle Brotherton

75m IM (Class 3) – 3rd
50m Backstroke (Class 4) – Silver
25m Butterfly (Class 4) – Gold
25m Breaststroke (Class 5) – 2nd
50m Freestyle (Class 3) – 3rd

Isaac Dunning

100m IM (Open) – 3rd
50m Backstroke (Class 1) – Gold
50m Butterfly (Class 1) – 3rd
50m Breaststroke – (Class 1) – 2nd
100m Freestyle – (Open) – 4th

At the end of the competition, all four swimmers competed as part of the relay team representing the West of Scotland who were awarded the trophy as the winning team.
