A VALUED partnership continues this spring as the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland returns to the Beacon Arts Centre, Greenock, with two inspiring Sunday concerts showcasing the exceptional talent of its emerging performers.
Taking place in the Beacon’s intimate Gallery Suite — with panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde — the concerts promise stirring performances in a breathtaking setting.
The first performance is A Celebration of Scottish Song and Romantic Masterworks on Sunday (8 March) at 2:30pm
Vocal and instrumental students present a rich and varied programme centred around selections from 25 Scottish Songs, Op.108, arranged in 1818 by Ludwig van Beethoven for voice and piano trio.
Commissioned by Edinburgh publisher George Thomson, these arrangements weave traditional Scottish melody and poetry with Viennese classicism.

The afternoon also features Jules Massenet – Élégie (mezzo-soprano, cello and piano); Johann Sebastian Bach – Double Concerto (First and Second Movements); and Sergei Rachmaninov – Cello Sonata (Third Movement)
The second concert — A Vibrant Afternoon at the Opera — is on Sunday 22 March at 2:30pm, and features a dynamic showcase of operatic scenes, including: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart — The Magic Flute, Così fan tutte and Idomeneo; and Engelbert Humperdinck — Hansel and Gretel.
Bursting with drama, humour and soaring melodies, this promises to be a captivating afternoon celebrating the power and passion of opera.
Seating is unreserved for both performances. Tickets are available on 01475 723 723.
