Remembrance ceremony at Wellpark, Greenock, last year

SERVICES to remember those who gave their lives in conflict will take place across Inverclyde this weekend.

Traditional Remembrance Sunday (10 November) commemorations are being held in Greenock, Port Glasgow, Gourock, Kilmacolm, Inverkip and Wemyss Bay.

Church services will take place before wreaths are laid at local war memorials as follows:

Greenock: Wellpark Mid Kirk: 10.45am church service then Wellpark war memorial about 12.30pm. Parade from Shaw Place to Wellpark at 12.15pm.

Free French Memorial, Lyle Hill – Short service about 1.30pm.

Port Glasgow: New Parish Church: 10.45am church service then Port Glasgow war memorial at 12.30pm.

Toll Boys’ Memorial, Clune Park: short service about 1.30pm.

Gourock: Old Gourock and Ashton Church: 10.45am church service then Gourock war memorial about noon. Parade from church.

Kilmacolm: Kilmacolm Parish Church ( formerly the Old Kirk): 10.45am church service then Kilmacolm war memorial about 12.30pm.

Inverkip: Inverkip Church: 10.45am church service then Inverkip war memorial about noon.

Wemyss Bay: Skelmorlie and Wemyss Bay Parish Church: 10.45am church service then Wemyss Bay war memorial about noon.
