PUBLIC Thanked After Alleged West End Intruder Arrested

POLICE responded to multiple reports of a male acting suspiciously, looking into cars and properties in Greenock West End this morning (Friday).

Officers attended on Eldon Street at 7.40am and traced a 35-year-old within a garden on the Esplanade.

He was arrested and charged with a number of offences including housebreaking with intent to steal.

Community police Inspector Andrew Durk said: “We would like to thank the public for their quick-thinking action in reporting this matter to police allowing us to respond and apprehend the suspect before he was able to get away.

“If anyone is aware of any similar incidents or has had items stolen in the Eldon street/Esplanade area this morning or has CCTV/dashcam footage relevant to this incident please contact police on 101 quoting incident 0556 of 17 September.”
