PLANNERS are being asked to approve a battery energy storage facility in countryside near Greenock.
Big Battery Company (Flatterton) Ltd want to install 13 containerised battery storage units with associated equipment, in a field beside Flatterton Farm.

The site would be connected by underground cable to the electricity grid.
Battery storage facilities allow energy from renewable sources, like wind farms, to be stored and then released when the power is needed most.
The proposal is pending consideration by Inverclyde planning department.
