RESTRICTIONS are being put in place ahead of Hector McNeil House in Greenock being knocked down.
Inverclyde Council have given an update about the work, which is part of the major Central Greenock project.

Hector McNeil House, Clyde Square, opened in 1970 as Greenock Central Library, but was converted into local authority offices in 2015.

The council stated stated: “The contractor will shortly set up a compound at the King Street car park and hoarding will be erected at King Street and Smith Street, at the rear of Hector McNeil House.
“To facilitate access for construction traffic, a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) is being issued for King Street. This will restrict parking from Monday 2 February 2026 to 30 July 2027 and we have engaged with local residents and business to update them on the upcoming changes in their area.

“We will ensure access to King Street and Smith Street is maintained throughout this time and car parking will remain available on Smith Street and the north side of King Street.
“King Street car park itself will be unavailable from Monday 9 February 2026 until further notice.”
