A WOMAN who was so drunk she had to go to hospital allegedly spat in the face of a police officer.

Police responded to a report of a female causing a disturbance on Bank Street in Greenock around 10pm on Friday.

Sergeant Jason Logsdon said: “They traced the female who was taken to hospital due to the level of intoxication.

“While at the hospital, the female became aggressive and allegedly spat in the face of an officer and was subsequently arrested.

The 26-year-old was arrested for alleged police assault, causing a disturbance and breach of bail conditions and was held in custody to appear at court.

Meanwhile, police responded to a disturbance in Whinhill Crescent in Greenock involving an intoxicated woman who was allegedly shouting racist abuse around 9.15pm on Saturday.

A 33-year-old woman was charged and will be reported to prosecutors.
