INVERCLYDE Council has taken another step towards transforming the rundown Clune Park estate in Port Glasgow into a new neighbourhood.
The local authority has submitted a planning application seeking permission for a residential development of up to 135 properties.
It is based on a masterplan drawn up in 2023 which proposes a mixture of flats, cottage flats, two and three-storey houses and landscaping.

The application is now pending consideration by planning officials.
The council is also working on the appointment of a development partner to take the project forward.

The entire estate was originally made up of around 430 residential properties across 45 tenement blocks.
Phase one of demolition was completed in October and saw the fire-damaged former school and church buildings within the estate and 138 properties in 15 blocks on the western side of Bruce Street and connecting section of Robert Street plus both sides of Wallace Street pulled down.
Phase two, involving properties on Robert Street, Clune Park Street, and Maxwell Street, started a few weeks ago and is expected to continue into the summer.
