Inverclyde Now Logo GREENOCK Parkrun Regular Gill Completes 150th Run

A GREENOCK parkrun regular — who wanted to run straight home before she tried her very first run — has celebrated completing her 150th.

Gill Gilmour had been running solo for about a year before she arrived at the start-line at the first Greenock event back in May 2014.

She confessed that she was hesitant about running in a group and had to fight the urge to turn around and go home.

However, four years later, Gill has completed 149 runs at Greenock and one in South Africa, and has also volunteered 35 times.

The weekly five-kilometre run has become a staple of her Saturday morning fitness routine.

Gill was among 116 runners taking part at the Esplanade last weekend, including seven first-timers were among the assembled.

The warm and dry conditions were ideal with 18 runners managing to improve their run-time and achieve a personal best.

They were Derek Shand, Isobel McFarlane, William Neill, Ian Keir, Adele Marzella, Ben Campbell, Sibylle Dow, Helen Crawford, Linda Ross, Sooryanarayan Pujar, Kelly McKenna, Callum Watson, David Wallace, Maryke Mclaren, Ross Cuffe, Sarah Williamson, Anna Hardie and Ronnie Marshall.
