PARENTS will be able to pay for school meals and trips online at all of Inverclyde Council’s schools by the end of the current academic year.
A successful pilot of the ParentPay system has already been run at two primary and two secondary schools during the last session. Up to 88 per cent of parents and carers signed-up.
Education and Communities convener councillor Jim Clocherty said: “The new system is proving extremely popular with parents –- in some cases it has changed their lives with no more scrabbling around for loose change for dinner money the next day.
“On a more serious note it has also completely taken away the stigma of free school meals. Parents will also have the option and the convenience of being able to pay for all school trips and excursions online. Where it is already available is proving particularly popular.”
Secondary school trips will be added to the ParentPay system during the course of 2018. Parents and carers will be given the option of paying online using a debit/credit card or paying cash using the PayPoint facility in local convenience stores.
