NEW Argos Store Opens In Oak Mall

28 August, 2025 | Local

THE new Argos store in the Oak Mall, Greenock, has been officially opened by local MP Martin McCluskey.

Argos ceased trading from the shopping centre in September 2024 as its outlet was in part of the mall which is to be demolished as part of major redevelopment plans.

A collection point for items purchased online was later set up and it was then confirmed that Argos would have a shop elsewhere in the Oak Mall.

The new store is in the high-profile former WHSmith unit.

Mr McCluskey said: “It’s fantastic to see Argos committing to Greenock’s town centre and opening this new store in the Oak Mall. I’ve long argued that national retailers should maintain their presence in Greenock, and today shows the positive results of that campaign.

“This investment is an important vote of confidence in Greenock’s future. With work on the £20 million Levelling Up Fund regeneration project about to get underway, today’s opening is another sign that our town centre has a bright future.

“The Levelling Up Fund investment will deliver transformational changes to Greenock town centre, including the redevelopment of the Oak Mall and surrounding areas to create new opportunities for retail, business and community use.”
