The away match finished 1:1, Kirk Broadfoot scoring for the Greenock side in the 21st minute and Ayr equalising in the 45th minute.
Morton remain in sixth place in the Championship, a point behind Dunfermline, and seven points adrift of fourth-placed Airdrieonians, with six matches remaining.
