MORTON have announced that they are not producing weekly matchday programmes at Cappielow this season.
The Greenock club play their first home game of the Championship season today against Cove Rangers.
Morton stated on their Facebook page: “Due to poor uptake in recent seasons, the decision has been made to have no weekly matchday programmes this season.
“The club will however explore the possibility of special programmes throughout the season for certain matches.”
Fans reacted with dismay on social media. One said: “That’s rubbish, my boy loves the programmes. He collects them. That’s the highlight of the game for him.”
Another said: “End of an era. The programme over the years has been a fabulous potted history of the club season on season.”
However another said: “Sad as it is, it makes sense as we have to be run as a commercial enterprise these days. If the programme loses money then ultimately it isn’t worth doing.”
