A NEW cruise operator is planning to bring the world’s biggest square-rigged sailing ship to Greenock this summer.

Tradewind Voyages is launching holidays aboard SV Golden Horizon later this year.

The massive vessel is scheduled to come to the Clyde in July, assuming pandemic circumstances allow.

All 140 of its cabins are outward facing and “evoke the luxury and facilities expected of a boutique cruise ship, whilst retaining charm, adventure and romance of a truly historic sailing vessel”.

Golden Horizon is due to arrive at Greenock on Monday 15 July at the end of a cruise starting in Leith.

The ship will leave the Clyde the same day for a six-night ‘West Coast Gems Of Scotland’ voyage, returning to Greenock on 21 July.

Tradewind Voyages state on their website: “Our philosophy is to be powered by nature whenever possible and we intend to sail, without using propulsion, for around 70 per cent of each season.”
