A MAN has died after he went missing from a Greenock restaurant and was found in a nearby harbour after a major search.
Police were called to the Tail o’ The Bank, Rue End Street, around 1pm (Saturday).
They were joined by fire and rescue crews, coastguards, a helicopter and a lifeboat.
The 42-year-old was recovered from the water at Victoria Harbour around 2.30pm.
He was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital and died a short time later Police Scotland said: “Inquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances.”
Detectives at Greenock are keen to speak to the occupants of two vehicles that were in the car park area of the restaurant around 12.30 — a white SUV and a red pick-up truck — case they saw anything which could assist with the inquiry. Officers can be contacted on 101.
