THE Ardgowan Hospice Butterfly Project has received a £2,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Gourock.

The Butterfly Project is a bereavement support service offered by the Greenock hospice to children and families struggling to come to terms with the death of a loved one or the impact of a life-limiting illness.

The hospice used the funds to decorate a children and young person’s counselling room which is used to offer a confidential safe space to explore feelings of anticipatory loss and grief.

The donation was made as part of the Amazon in the Community programme through which the company supports communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Lorna Sharples, site Lleader at Amazon in Gourock, said: “The Butterfly Project provides great resources for children to help them come to terms with grief.

“We have supported the charity in the past and are pleased to offer a helping hand again.”

Mary Mooney, psychosocial development lead at Ardgowan Hospice, said: “On behalf of myself and the Butterfly Project team at Ardgowan Hospice, I want to say a big thank-you to Lorna and everyone at Amazon in Gourock.

“They’ve kindly supported us in the past and it’s great to know that a local business like Amazon continues to support our efforts in the community.”
