INVERCLYDE planners have refused permission for a new house to be built beside the grounds of a church in Larkfield, Greenock.
The two-storey, one-bedroom property was proposed for land adjacent to 164 Auchmead Road, next to St Andrew’s Church.
A decision report by council officials states: “The position of the dwellinghouse disrupts the existing urban form and results in a visually dominant, uncharacteristic feature on the streetscape, which could cause an overall adverse impact on the character and appearance of the area.”
They also said the size of the plot meant there would no be enough garden space.
