KILMACOLM Site Lined Up For Two Detached Houses

16 January, 2024 | Local, Planning

PLANS have been revealed for two new houses on the edge of Kilmacolm.

The properties, each with detached double garages, are proposed for former garden grounds at the western end Of Knockbuckle Road, beside Torwood.

The land was part of the 10-acre Avenel property which has been replaced with seven houses over a number of years.

How the properties would look

A design document included with the planning application states: “Whilst this site currently lies beyond the village envelope, there are a number of key features that support this designed solution for limited development.

“This document highlights these key factors and demonstrate how extremely limited movement of the current boundary would not open any possibility to further spread or sprawl beyond this application site.”

“The design solution proposed is detailed, sensitive, limited, responds to the woodland setting and works in line with the development pattern of the street and area.”

How the properties would look

The report continues: “The designs are developed in response to the site setting and seek to quietly integrate into the surroundings with dark stained timber cladding to blend the houses into the woodland setting.

“Gardens around will be sensitively landscaped, all established trees will remain and some native planting inserted to reinforce the woodland setting and settle the house further into the landscape.”

The application is pending consideration by Inverclyde planners.
