Inverclyde Now Logo ‘INTOXICATED’ Driver Hit Parked Cars In Late-Night Port Glasgow Collision

A MOTORIST allegedly tried to flee after crashing into parked vehicles in Port Glasgow but was detained at the scene by residents.

Police were called to Glenhuntly Terrace around 12.40am on Saturday.

Sergeant Jason Logson said: “The driver was stopped by several members of the public until police could arrive as he appeared heavily intoxicated.”

A 25-year-old man was arrested for various alleged driving offences, including drink-driving, plus alleged possession of a substance believed to be cocaine.

Meanwhile, a driver allegedly tried to run off after being stopped by police in West Blackhall Street, Greenock on Friday evening.

Officers apprehended the 27-year-old man after a foot chase.

He was charged with driving while disqualified and without insurance, and a police obstruction offence.
