The toast to the new members was proposed by Jennifer Buchan, a humanist celebrant, who became the first lady in the society`s history to address the members.
The reply to the new members was delivered by Archie MacPherson, the well-known sports broadcaster, who called on his wealth of experience to deliver humorous anecdotes from his long career.
Grace was given by Vice Preses Barry Dyer, and Inverclyde Provost and former Preses of the Society Drew McKenzie gave the vote of thanks in his inimitable style.
Musical entertainment was provided by Kenny Wilson who regaled the audience with a selection of Scottish songs. The accompanist was David Mackie and the piping was done with aplomb by Ruari Buchan.
Various fines were levied throughout the evening for real and imagined infractions and the money raised is to be utilised for the benefit of the needy in Inverclyde.
The preses noted the passing of Sir William Lithgow, Campbell Snoddy and Iain Paterson both of whom had been members and supporters of the Society.
Local teacher Barry Dyer was elected as preses with Mark McDaid as vice preses. Treasurer Tom Neil retired after 42 years of service and was presented with a gift for his sterling service.
Honorary Secretary Bill Mitchell has relocated to Perthshire and as a result has demitted office.

The society also raises funds from several events of an allegedly sporting nature throughout the year and these are added to income from a healthy portfolio of investments and property.
